A police station had to be evacuated after an elderly woman handed in a Second World War hand grenade.
The woman walked into Wythenshawe Police Station, Greater Scumchester, with the grenade as well as two rounds of ammunition. Police say she found them in her loft after her husband died.
As a precaution, the police station was evacuated and bomb disposal officers were called.
A 100m cordon was set up, a local road closed and nearby residents warned to stay indoors and away from windows.
Inspector Jon Percival of Greater Scumchester Police, said: "We would like to advise members of the public that when they find hand grenades, or any type of ammunition, to call the police immediately rather than pick the items up."
