Rubbish! Of course there should have been an appeal. Why? Two simple reasons
1. There was and still is NO statute in the FL rules to allow a decision to relegate a team 2 divisions, or more precisely, to be offered the "Golden share" in return for voluntarily dropping a division
2. Common law states that you can NOT blackmail anyone with two different penalties. Eg. A judge can not say to a defendant you either take the massive fine or I bin your arse. The reason being is that by having someone choose, "implies" they are accepting guilt
I would have appealed on Point 2 alone |
1. The independent panel must have been lying then when they said the FL had the right to do what they did and DID have the power the make Leeds play in League 2
2. Common law does not prevent me from walking through the streets with a ball in my hand but I can't do it on the football field - the regulations of the game stop me from doing that. It's got nothing to do with common law.
In the legal system people plead guilty for a lesser punishment all the time.
The INDEPENDENT panel found FOR the football league and AGAINST Bates on all accounts. Face facts the FL were in the right and Bates was totally in the wrong.
How anyone can think that a man who couldn't even be bothered to provide the information. documentation and notifications - both before the season and on this occasion - is acting in Leeds' interests beggars belief.

Do you read past the headlines and cartoons?
Correct that leeds lost the appeal because they signed a document saying they wouldnt appeal - anyone with half a brain knew that already without having to use the Gruniard as "reference" source. As we discussed earlier in the topic, if I had been put in the same position I would have done the same thing myself
Example - I hold a gun to your head (either League 2 or voluntary 15 points reduction) and then I make you sign a paper saying everythings in order, WHAT WOULD YOU DO, when they took the gun away???
Are you a "pants down, ankle grabber"?? or have the courage of your convictions to see it thru to the end?? Me, again, I would have appealed exactly has Bates has done
And for Harry - dont confuse Bates efforts. Noone is saying he is doing this solely for the love of Leeds - Of course he has to look after his investments / interests. As Ben said, folks on here will blame Bates for everything. BY FAR THE WORSE was Ridsdale and co - followed closely by Prof Plum!!

Folks on here (and elsewhere) are entitled to blame Bates for everything since Bates came along, for the mysterious £20m of debt added on last season, for the lies about how close we were getting to being solvant, for the clear attempt to rip off the small creditors (1p in the pound), for the clear rigged use of KPMG, for the rigging of the CVA vote by placing his companies on the creditors list, for the pathetic attempt to claim he would close the club down if he didn't win the bid, for the lies told about the deal done with the FL, for the lack of openness as to really owns the club, for the wasted 9 months of trying to overturn what he knew was a lower penalty than we could have got, for the spending of £4m in legal fees in his prepostious con and for bringing this club in to more disripute that Ridsdale Mckensie and Krasner could do put together.
Often when I hear/read people support Bates what always strikes me is how when pressed they can't name one clear thing he has done to give this club back its pride, its decency, its long term future (and anyone who says he has needs to produce evidence not avaialble anywhere else). Being lectured by a man living in Oz about football, business and decency is like being called blind, can live with that when it comes from the mouth of a fool. |

1. Ok - Keeping the club ALIVE - explain to me again exactly what the other options were again? Oh thats right - INSOLVENCEY
2. Putting a fighting spirit in Leeds. The last 3-4 years had sucked the heart and soul out of Leeds, the club and the players - This year he gave them something to fight for ( great big chip on their shoulder as a club) - and they fought for the club too
Another one to finish off?
Supplied more funding for players / transfers than any other team in this league, and in all honesty probably provided more funds for players than Prof Plum and Geweld combined
So theres the evidence you seek
