Its quite simple really. Warming melts the ice cap and this melting iced water dilutes with cold water the warm gulf streams that keep our climate moderate  and hence make us colder.

The big problem with the global warming issue is information and trust. It is a sad indictment on the world leaders that they are not trusted to tell the truth or share accurate information. We are simply not given enough reliable information to make any judgments. Such is the record of lies mistruths, spin and deceit we simply can not believe what the likes of Blair, Bush and Brown say.

So called independent scientist have also consistently been discredited due to their collaboration with business in producing scientific evidence so very often they too can not be believed.

It gets so you have to go and trust your own instincts. My own is that the Earth is reasonably self containing organic body. Like any other body if you destroy its lungs and pump enough shit into it, it closes down.

Personally I think the mass de forestation of the planet due to atmospheric poisoning and to make way for meat producing grazing is destroying its breathing apparatus. I also think that to be in denial of the consequences of mass unregulated poisonous emissions is a little blasé to say the least. Put them both together and I find it impossible to ignore that we are affecting the Planets well being.

Embarassed I consider myself told off.

I recycle everything I can. I make everyone double side print to save paper. I make them use the other side of paper for notes.

I just like my car. I am not having a Prius!

I think that we have taken nature beyond the point of no return, and we may as well all drive tanks and fly as often and as far as possible.

It all pales (sic) into insignificance when you consider that China alone is opening ONE brand new, coal burning power generation system PER WEEK

Enjoy Earth Hour

Spot on 30Mill, and if anyone has a few £k or $k spare, get your money into large mining interests such as RTZ, BHP.....The Chinese market is, according to many market analysts, expected to create some mega mining co's through mergers.

The entire Australian economy and the strength of the Aussie dollar (usually around 40p now at 44 - 45p) is due wholey and solely to the fact that the "Big Australian" BHP and the resource sector is BOOMING with sales purely to China

We used to have a coal mining industry here until Thatcher and Scargill consipred to destroy it. There is still hundreds of years worth of coal underground.

Yet for some reason it is apparently cheaper to ship coal in from Poland, China or Australia rather than dig it out of the ground next to the power stations of the Aire Valley... Rolling Eyes

We used to produce seasonal soft fruits for the whole nation, and hops for the brewing undustries, but our government told us we had to be in the Common Market, and they in turn told us our apples were too big, or too small or too scarred, or too tasty and juicey, and that we had to stock our shops with their shitty Golden Delicious instead.
