2.50pm Thurs afternoon, walking down the grassy ginnel at side of kids school to pick em up, suddenly I was stopped DEAD in me tracks, 4 foot in front of me was this bloody huge (at least 12 feet long) Brown snake, Did I run ?? Did I hell, I was to bloody frozen with fear , so I took tiny steps backwards till I was far enough away, to turn and walk briskly, through other gate, and went through teachers car park, I alerted the groundsman who was leaving at the time, who locked the gate to the ginnel so kids couldnt leave that way, then the wanna be macho hero, got a spade and proceeded to the ginnel to kill it, but it was nowhere to be seen by then, so am I a hero or what, possibly saving hundreds of Kids lives, well i did get the ginnels gate locked so they couldnt go that way   .

PS, there may have been a slight over exaggeration in the length of it   , it was though, somewhere between 4 foot and 11 1/2 feet

I thought it was mandatory for every aussie to pick the snake up by the tail and say

"awww isn't he a beaut"

Whilst standing there looking like you might have piles

"he's in a baaaaaaaaaad mooood"

Good job the caretaker locked the gate or the snake might have got into the school grounds... Rolling Eyes

Well done anyways mate - good to see that there are still people who watch where they are going. Over here some half wit wouldn't have seen the snake until after they tripped over it and it had bitten them on the ass. Shocked They would have then sued the school.

Is it true that Aussies have to check under the toilet seat when they go in case a vicious spider is waiting there to bite their unmentionables?  Wink

I think it's true that 8 out of 10 of the deadliest creatures in the world are native to Oz. They gloss over that in the tourist brochures though, don't they?  Shocked
