Remember Tomorrows’ World ?. Wasn’t now supposed to be the era when we would all have loads of leisure time, be retiring at 50. Own our own jet skis, X Ray glasses, have robotic slaves around the house and generally be living the life of Reilly. I distinctly remember Old Raymond telling us that Oil and coal would be obsolete as new and cleaner energy sources were going to be discovered.

Funny I can’t ever remember seeing on the show all the things that affect every one of us now in our day to day lives. Can anyone remember them saying that our pensions would be stolen of us. Retirement age would be the day you drop. Education would become a commodity. Our roads would become one huge car park. Terrorism would touch every one of us leading to ever more social surveillance. Don’t recall AIDS getting a mention either making sex a game of Russian roulette.

No mention of mobile phones either, the internet or ipods,
