West Ham's chairman reckons EPL games should be played in US

So what are the chances of this happening? Purely for financial reasons?

Before you scoff...if someone had said 20-30 years ago that the following would happen - again purely for financial reasons - would you not have laughed...

1. The top league in England would effectively break away from the rest and be operated separately (albeit with promotion and relegation)

2. The European Cup would become the Champions League with 2, 3 or even 4 teams from countries across Europe competing

3. The said competition would cease to be a pure knock-out competition but in the interests of the big clubs and money would be played partly on a home and away league basis

4. Games would not only kick off at various times on a Saturday but would even be played on a Sunday and Monday (and even Friday) for the TV audiences and money

5. The World Cup finals would cease to be played alternately between Europe and South America but would be played in Asia, North America and Africa - okay I'll concede this is not purely financial but still represents a major change from the early traditions.

6. The FA cup would be considered to be a 'minor' trophy by the bigger clubs and that even the smaller clubs would give up home draws against the big boys (reducing their chances of a historic cup upset) and opt to play away from home in order to make more money from the match.

Of course, technically speaking, EPL games shouldn't even be played at Upton Park let alone in the USA.

Quite right ravey. The would be absurd Harry, cant see that ever happenning, the very thought eh?

English Footballs soul has been whored to death with nearly every dirty pair of hands getting a grope. Wouldnt suprise me at all. The obviouse fans concern about home advantage etc would be railroaded over. If they must take the show to the States why not have the FA Cup Semis there. Agree with Halfa here. The game has sold its soul over and over, and often at the expense of the fans, and in my opinion, degradation of the product. This just might be a slap in the face too far for fans.

We already have less that half the top flight games kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon as it is. Whatever happened to tradition, eh?

Why ship the top four to america and make them stay there so we dont have to watch them suck all the money life and soul out of our game, then there would be a real challenge for the EPL title, plus it wouldnt change the fan base of the scum as they can all afford to fly accross to america from their mansions in surrey
