I have a great deal of sympathy for them.
Clearly none of the family is likely to win parent of the year, but the mother herself was struggling to read, is clearly involved in ongoing tensions within the family and they live in a shite hole with no chance of escape or bettering themselves.
We might ask how in the fourth richest country in the world we are still turning out "family" units like this.
I was brought up on a council estate and I still live on one now - I can't recall the total air of despondency and lack of hope that I saw in last nights programme though. Then the ladies and gentlemen of the press manipulating them at every turn purely in order to sell papers and get viewers tuning in.
The situation here was no less desperate than the one the McCanns found themselves in, but we collectively seem to empathise with the well presented, well spoken, educated McCanns whilst sneering at the "chavs" (for want of a better word).
Whilst there may be more to come surrounding this story, I can't help feel sickened by the wider attitude to it. |

I have more respect for these 'chavs' than the McCanns.
the McCanns left 3 children under 4 in a room and went 100 yds away to a restuarant, that they feel they have no blame in this sorry situation is despicable. I only hope that Maddy was stolen to order to go to a loving family, I cannot begin to contemplate anything other (as I am sure neither can her family). Unlike Shannon I fear we will never know the outcome of Maddy, as we will never know the outcome of Ben Needham (stolen many years ago on a Greek island).
Lets us hope theirs lives are good and happy.

| Spot On ravey couldn’t agree more. Didnt watch it though for the same reason im not watching the White Britain series. I am sick to death of working class people all been Portrayed as objects of ridicule by the media.

A friend has a relative who works for the police, but sadly from the start he has been telling me there has been "a lot more to come" regarding this whole sorry matter.
I despair for that poor little lass and just hope that this sad business is the start of a happier chapter in her life. |

| Strewth, this saga makes Shameless seem a day to day story of everyday folk
