Apple.
Not the tasty traditional fruit, but the purveyor of electronic gadgets.
Regular readers may remember that mrs ravey bought me an iPod Touch, last November (technically for Christmas, but you know what I mean).
Anyway the bloody thing has packed in - it either simply won't turn on, just displaying the Apple logo on a flickering screen, or on the odd occasion it powers up, nothing works and the PC / other docks (we have 3) / in car kit won't recognise it's connected.
Went to the online 'Help' tried everything listed and nowt worked. An online forum suggested it may have drained the battery by being left on and to put it on charge for a couple of hours which also had no effect.
So back to the shop where we bought it and it has to go back to Apple for repair. This will apparently take 16 days. Just over two weeks I thought, but then the shop assistant kindly advised me that was actually 16 working days, so in effect 4 weeks, minimum.
The b@st@rds. A bloody month where I'm unable to listed to the 7+ days worth of music I've got on iTunes, unless I'm sat in front of my PC.

Regular readers may be aware we inherited a dog last year (see seperate thread). He is excellent in many ways, but despite being a short haired breed, he sheds hair at an alarming rate - goodness knows how you cope with a golden retriever (or an Afghan hound!).
Anyways, the long and short of it is that we* bought a vacuum that said it was specifically designed to cope with pets hair and even had a special attachment for vacc'ing upholstery.
I've just tried using it in the car and I'd have been more productive trying to personally suck the hairs up individually through a drinking straw.
What a pile of shite.
Now I'm left with three options - 1) ignore it and eventually the back seat will be covered in black hair and I can pretend it's meant to be like that, 2) buy a reel of masking tape and use that to lift the hair off (every time the dog goes in the car!) or 3) take it to the Kosovan Carwash and bung them £15 for an interior valet.
* - by 'we' I mean mrs ravey who went to the shop unattended to buy said item. I wouldn't have bought it based on the simple fact it is red, but I thought that by sending a woman to buy a vaccuum she would know which was the best. I was wrong. |
The ONLY hoover I have ever found truly working for dog hairs is a Kirby - unfortunately they are the price of a small car |

I purchased a bottle of Ben Shaws Bitter shandy.
There was nothing wrong with the taste, it was just like I remembered it - lovely.
However, I noticed it is now produced by "Cott" who are a multi-national who make lots of cola and the like for supermarkets, etc.
"
Cott Corporation is one of the world's largest non-alcoholic beverage companies and the world's largest retailer brand soft drink provider, with business dealings in more than 60 countries around the globe. The principal markets for its manufacturing and sales are the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Mexico.
Cott markets or supplies more than 200 retailer and licensed brands of beverages in 20 manufacturing facilities.
Cott also has company-owned brands, which include Cott, RC, Vintage, Vess, Stars & Stripes, Ben Shaws, Carters, Red Rooster, Red Rain and So Clear.
Cott began importing bottled and canned carbonated beverages into Québec (Canada) from the US in 1952, and eventually began bottling and canning beverages in Québec. From 1976 - 1991, Cott expanded into Ontario, Western Canada and the Atlantic provinces; it later expanded into the US and Europe."
So there was I, thinking I'd bought a bottle of 'uddersfields finest (that being where Ben Shaws were from) and I've actually bought something Canadian. _________________ The advert above is nowt to do with me!

Agreed. What w@nker thought it would be a good idea to build the worlds shitest speakers into a mobile phone and then fit it with an MP3 player that can (apparently) only play derivative R'n'B crap?_________________ The advert above is nowt to do with me!
