The fiX Factor? From week 1, Welsh Warbler Rhydian has been nailed on to win The X Factor.
He's been the only one who can hold a note and put on a bit of a show at the same time.
So how come Cowell and Co were allowed to blatantly manipulate last nights show to ensure that Leon (the pig famer) won the bloody thing?
Leon went first to sing (sorry, murder) the "winning" song that is to be released as a single and boy did they do everything the could to get him some votes in. He must have had 10-15 minutes longer of his number being on screen than Rhydian did when he was finally allowed to sing. I was watching it and couldn't believe the blatantness of it.
Could it be that they know Rhydian is destined to make it anyway, and could go on to be a worldwide success (Lloyd Webber has already expressed a desire to sign him up for the sequel to "Phantom of the Opera") and someone decided that the marketable, teen friendly but substantially less talented Leon would allow the money machine to have two bites of the very same cherry?
What a bloody liberty.

It gets murkier doesn't it?
Reported on the wireless today that over 1200 have lodged formal complaints with Ofcom that they were trying to vote for Rhydian but couldn't get through. A cynic might suggest that might have something to do with his phone number being on screen for a much shorter time?

Of course it is a fix, the less talented winner gets a contract that guarantees him the xmas number 1 and recoups the money laid out on him whilst the talented runner up, ie the welsh lad, carves out a long term career, thus guaranteeing a modicum of longetivity. ala liberty x and lemar from the bbc1 programme.
Anyhow tis all a bloody fix trying to fleece the public out of their hard earned dosh.
I have gone on record before stating that all "reality" shows should be banned from making money and more money should be kept in producing quality educational programmes for kiddies and keeping the best of what's left on terrestrial tv, ie good quality sports programmes and keeping it out of the greedy bastards hands, ie murdoch.

Viewing figures have been massively down on previous years though, which speaks volumes.
Chris Moyles amongst others has been very vocal in pointing out that standards have slipped massively and the public have got wise to the over rehearsed sob stories every week.
Will it be back next year? Hopefully not, but given the fact ITV can't ptoduce original television for toffee and the millions it rakes in from the phone lines I doubt it.
