Thankyou, Darling...for nothing.

Well, surely I'm not the only one who is totally unimpressed with Labours, much hyped (and evern more leaked) pre-Budget announcements.

Hurrah for the temporary 2.5% reduction in VAT. Getting just over a quid off something that costs £50 is really going to incite me to spend, spend, spend my way out of this recession.

Still, good news about them postponing the car tax going up. Well it would be if my car wasn't in one of the categories where the tax was going to come down...

And notice how they've pushed through another permanent 2p duty on a litre of petrol, when prices have finally started to get bearable? Thats in addition to the same permanent rise on booze.

Lets not also forget the 1% rise in NI contributions. (0.5% for me, 0.5% for work). That should stimulate the labour market...into shedding more jobs as the cost of staff is pushed up again.

Nice of them to bribe the pensioners with £60 though. Should pay for a few sessions down Gala Bingo.

Vote Labour? You're having a larf...

And I love this bit: (from the BBC website)

A new state supported saving scheme - known as the Savings Gateway - will be launched, in which the government will contribute 50 pence for every pound saved.

It will start in 2010 and is targeted at 8 million people on low incomes.

So I have to slave away, busting my guts to earn my wages only to see Brown and Darling take it from my pocket and give it directly to someone else. Perhaps this lucky chap be saving for the very holiday I can't afford 'cos I can't get the government to leave my pay packet alone. Or maybe he'll be saving for a seaside beano with his mates, instead of me? FFS.

There is more chance of me winning the lottery three times in a row than voting for this bunch of 6th form politics idiots ever again.

Ravey - I reckon theres genes in your system from Guido Fawkes

Couldn't agree more with you Ravey

I get the sneaky suspicion they are trying to leave the worst economic mess imaginable for the Tories to sort out - like an evicted tenant trashing the place before he leaves - just for the hell of it

Nothing in this pre budget report makes any sense - its all spin and waffle - cut this but increase this, cut that but increase that, postpone that but increase that in the future (read when we are no longer in power) - the very fact that they considered putting up VAT to 18.5% should tell you everything you need to know about this shambolic government.

Oh and by the way I want to "put steps in place" to "ensure no repeat" of "our lessons learned" to make sure "the system" is working correctly and that a failure in "the system" doesn't happen again

^^^^^ sound bites for the next 18 months for this lot ^^^^^^^^^^^^

PS Can I prod this "system" with a sharp stick as it seems to fail an awful lot and bear the brunt of so many government (sorry system) failures

Next they will be telling us that Al Qaeda is a complex terrorist network with a head honcho that runs the whole show

This could be interesting:

So a Tory is now guilty of leaking? No surprises there from the nasty party. Over and above the fact that this government has allowed the deliberate entry of illegal immigrants in an uncontrolled manner for 10 years, it will be interesting to see what he has done wrong.

Let's hope nobody leaks the fact that a healthy economy has been pillaged, we have an unelected prime minster who bust the economy in the first place, that they lied about their intentions to raise VAT, that they took our brave men to war on a lie etc etc etc.....This better be big news.

The scurge of decent politics are back in the form of Mandelson and Campbell. Brown had no choice but return to the gutter politics that was traditional labour ground in the last decad, and that is where it will be for the next couple of years.
