Stockport administrationYesterday Stockport entered administration. The League deducted them 10 points, which makes no difference at all to them as they were already missing out on the play-offs and safe from relegation.
Considering what happened following Leeds similar move a couple of years ago and the way Southampton have been punished, WTF is going on? It's not that Stockport deserve some sort of draconian treatment, but where is the consistency?
The rules may have been changed, but they're still open to abuse because the corrupt Football League officials wanted to give themselves the power to make decisions on the 'merits' of each case rather than apply one clear rule for all.
The rule should have been obvious: 10 points deducted from current season before 1st of March, or 10 points deducted from the following season after that date, regardless of current or final league positions.
I don't see how the FL have any credibility left after the completely hap-hazard way they've dealt with clubs' financially induced problems for the past few seasons. The Leeds situation was bad because it was effectively a backdated punishment, the Luton penalty was ludicrous and the discrepancy between the Stockport and Southampton penalties just shows how inconsistent they are.
Anyway... end of rant.
