My guess is he is on a decent wage and unless we get promoted we won't be prepared to improve it. Don't forget when he signed he had come from playing at a decent level in Germany and we were in a division higher. | ||

Wise always said he'd address Rui's contract at the end of the season as he didn't want to "stitch him up" by agreeing terms based on League 1 money, only for us to then get promoted. Can't see too much in this really and if Michalik can drop two divisions to join us, I can see Rui staying if we go up one. | ||

My thoughts exactly. It's bloody frustrating watching the teams above us now having a bit of a wobble and we are a little too far away for automatic promotion. I only hope that we get a massive chunk of the points back and carry on our new found run of form and then promotion. We wouldn't have a problem keeping hold of him then. |

Actually, he came after not featuring at all in Germany the previous season, and the small Portugese club he spent some time on loan at didn't offer him a deal either. We were in a higher division, but he won't be on a huge sum at all. The fact is he's played well this season and might well get a deal at a higher level if we stay down, so he'll expect us to match or better that if he is to stay. Bates is probably not prepared to do that unless we are promoted. |
