RIP Michael Crichton - Author age 66 | Quote: | Prolific novelist and "ER" creator Michael Crichton has unexpectedly died in Los Angeles after a private battle with cancer. He was 66.
Known for his best-selling books like "Jurassic Park," and its sequel "The Lost World," which were made into a successful movie franchise, Crichton has sold more than 150 million books worldwide. Many of his books, including "The Andromeda Strain," "Congo," "Twister," "Terminal Man," and "Disclosure," were also turned into films.
A statement on the author's Web site reads, "While the world knew him as a great story teller that challenged our preconceived notions about the world around us — and entertained us all while doing so — his wife Sherri, daughter Taylor, family and friends knew Michael Crichton as a devoted husband, loving father and generous friend who inspired each of us to strive to see the wonders of our world through new eyes. He did this with a wry sense of humor that those who were privileged to know him personally will never forget."
The "in memoriam" statement also indicated that "a private funeral service is expected, but no further details will be released to the public." |
