My LG has some diagnostics stuff on/in the menu's.
Is the flickering on every channel? all the time etc?

Watch out for image burns on plasma`s from the red dot that sky keep putting on every bloody channel. Hit back up button to get rid.

Have you tried switching it off and on again (where is Armley?)
Aren't they susecptable to voltage variations?
That could cause a flicker.
We've got a LCD TV for the primary reason that plasma screens start to degrade from the minute they are manufactured. Apparently the anticipated life of the units is only 5 years in "normal" use.

Plasma screens run using some form of Ballast/Transformer (which creates the humming noise when you use it) to display the screen so as Ravey says it could be this that causes the flickering.
May have even just been some interference from a magnetic source nearby? I know with some TV's you even get the choice of the Hertz setting the TV runs which is the refresh rate of the screen. (Not sure if this applies to Plasma TV's though)
Ravey - I purchased a Plasma screen over LCD due to the better picture quality and the lack of pixellation which I noticed seemed worse on LCD screens. I've also read and found with my own set that the Plasma screen gets better with age following on from a 'wearing in' period.
The average lifetime of a Plasma screen is supposedly 60000 viewing hours (6.84 years solid use 24/7). Whereas LCD does supposedly last longer than this. But each type of screen has their drawbacks and benefits (picture quality / viewing angles etc)
The one thing that I found when dragging the Mrs round the shops was that certain brands seemed to be leaps and bounds above others in terms of picture quality.

We bought an LCD Samsung - "only" a 32-incher but anything bigger would have been overkill in our living room. (3 HDMI inputs) and built in
The reason for getting it was that the picture quality was notably better than any other TV on display, including some substantially more expensive "premium" brands. We saw the model on display in several shops and it was the same each time. We're still well pleased with it.
If you're in the market for a new telly, get along to Costco and get a card (under £30 for a year) - our telly was over £150 cheaper there than Argos or Comet and they give you a free 3 year warranty.

thats what ours is! (only its a 26 inch - we don't watch much TV, don't have sky, rarely watch sport or films so anything bigger seemed a waste of money)
Why did I buy it? I liked the shiney black plastic that framed the screen better than the silver or the dull black plastic!

They're even doing them in Pink now NE1!
I spent ages looking round all the shops and over the internet but ended up ordering mine from www.ebuyer.com. Got an 42" LG and ended up saving £200+ on the likes of the highest street/retail park stores. I bought mine just as LG were changing their range so ended up with the model from the top end of the range with the most 'features' for the price of the basic model.
Best bet is to spend time shopping around and keep an eye on the prices - Ebuyer move their prices up and down every week so if you time it right you can pick up some real bargains.

I went for this one from Argos just before the new year:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Pro...sions%3EFC%24Brands%3DJVC.JVC.htm
Decided on LCD because of the alleged extra shelf life and 32" cause any bigger would be too big for my front room.
Have to say that I got it £100 cheaper than that too!

That's called "Piano black" Bron - tis all the rage you know
You can get it with a white frame, like an ipod, but I didn't reckon much to that.
I hope you're still using the officially supplied duster to clean it AND following the exact cleaning instructions?

Bet it worked though..
We have an LCD. Plasma's are ok but they do have the drawbacks of image burn and degredation etc.
