Hair - when you next go to your parents try to change their "channel" - most wireless hubs have a choice of 1-12 channel selection - most people choose channel 1 which can then effect everyone else in the area if they also have channel 1 (i.e. if someone next door or nearby has a more powerful wireless hub then this can affect the quality of yours if they are on the same channel) - I have the same problem at home - it works fine for ages and then suddenly it starts disconnecting all the time (and sometimes it finds it hard to even find a wireless nerwork) - computer boffin friend of mine told me to change channel (which usually requires your IP address (or your networks IP address) to be put into the address bar on internet explorer - this usually brings up you wireless network page with the options to change your settings - go to the higher channels as less people choose these. (unfortunately if you have no connection at all you usually need to plug a cable into the back of the wireless hub in order to get on line to change the channel in the first place )

Now, why didn't I think of that?
Yes I know exactly what you mean, the IP address (usually 192.168.1.1, or 10.0.0.2) is the gateway, or router IP. You are then prompted for the administration username and password.
Well I've just had a quick check of neighbouring networks using Network Stumbler and have discovered someone is using the same channel as my parents - channel 11. Obviously a newcomer to the scene as nobody else was on 11 when I originally set it up. I've changed to channel 8, but don't tell anyone else
