No Beckford v DarlingtonOfficial line is that he picked up a (previously unmentioned) knock on Saturday.
You may choose to read something else into the situation, be that the club don't want him cup-tied or that the transfer window is still open....

Probably a combination of all the above (except the injury). There's no doubt the club would still like to get a big offer for him before the end of the month, so they won't want him cup tied to reduce his value.
I doubt anyone will make a big enough offer though. Someone may come in for him at a reduced price in January, but for now if anyone was going to bid big they would have done it already.
Beckford himself won't sign a new deal. He'd be stupid to do it if he wants to make sure he plays at a higher level next season.

I read somewhere that Grayson was quoted as saying "We are still open to offers for Beckford" - so are we actively touting him now or was this just an "I can't wait for the transfer window to shut" quote?
I think things would be desperately hard without him - his finish for the first goal on saturday was first class
