Millwall away

Pigs, usual -10, tried to force us all to KX again, ***** learn nothing.

Millwall fans - 5, before game some numpties tried it on in Borough Market with the old "got the time" routine, the pitiful look they got summed it up. Why they think the Instanbul chant is funny god only knows. Apparently pink is a hard colour in Bermondsey....

Team as a whole 6. Dodgy first half, too much lumping for my liking till we scored and then we started to play. In control for last 15, thought Mac had repeated his Huddesfield mistake with subbing Elding, turned out to be a masterstroke.

Ref 4, utter berk, can't believe he let some of the tackles on Freedman go.

Casper 7, ok, occasional kicking mess but solid behind shots.

Fraser 7, had a good one, good enough me thinks for people to get off his back till next season.

Sheehan 7, steady without being totally convincing.

Ludo 6, again ok but backed off too much on occasions.

Huntingdon 6, tried too hard at times and got exposed as a result.

Kilkenny 5, not his best but willing.

Prutton 6, grew into the game after dodgy start, still better than Douglas IMHO, great shot for the first goal.

Howson 7, captains performance, sacrificed attacking for solid play.

Johnson 4, worst i have seen him, seemed intimidated.

Elding 5, tried hard but got no balls to feet, jury out still on finishing but more effort than Kandol.

Freedman 8, without him we'd be buggered, worked hard to create, ref didn't give him a thing all game.

Subs:

Hughes 7, definitily plays better when sub, actually tried some skill at one point, good finish for no2.

Sweeney 3, would have been 5 if he'd got his chest pushing right, not on long enough to care.

Kandol 4, shame the cross in the last min didn't reach him, might have been a seminal moment....

Pretty much agree with all of the above.

Police didn't endear themselves to the Millwall fans either - kept them waiting at the station for over an hour before letting them go. Dodgy little area though - not many ways to and from the ground, so I guess they had to do something to keep the fans apart especially considering both their reputations.

Hope the game sounded better on the radio than it was in real life.
Millwall started hesitantly, as if expecting us to blow them away, and when they realised we hadn't actually turned up, started to gain confidence and had probably the only two "chances" of the first half (I think we had mustered one shot on target by that stage). They were the better team at that stage and started the second half brightly too. Thought we were on a loser after 15 mins of the second half tbh.
We had, however, at least tried to get the ball down and play football throughout (albeit not very successfully) and it started to pay off and we came back into it after that.

Prutton's excellent shot deserved a goal though and Millwall's heads seemed to drop - after that we were pretty much in control and when we sliced their defence to shreds, leaving Hughes with the simplest of opportunities, it was all over.

On balance, I don't think I would have felt robbed if we'd only come way with a point. If Millwall had actually played a footballer instead of their No. 17 (Savage) up front, things could have been very different.

Oh, and Glenn, We were talking about Beckford's chances to goals ratio the other week - In the match programme from yesterday it goes something like this:

Shots:       131

On Target:  60

Goals:         20

So basically he needs 6 1/2 chances for each goal.

Edited to add:

Bron - I know you like to keep an eye on these things, so the programme also confirmed that yesterday was Millwall's highest attendance of the season - by some 30% over the previous highest of a little over 10K

I think the new den like the old one is one of the few places that warrants a massive police operation like that to be honest. So what if a few Southeners had to go to Kings X and a few 'wall fans had to be delayed an hour. Like Cardiff and Brum they are utter scumbags and deserve ill treating. The ideal would be to ban them all and kick them all out of the league but that aint going to happen. Untill it does we are stuck with the OTT policing. Best sollution would be for all you southern based Whites to move up here, its ok really

Milt old son prepare for the cobwebs in your brain being blasted out by my responce.

Firstly I don't give a monkeys if Al-Quieda was hanging around London Bridge station there was never any excuse for the knobhead policing we had to endure. It wasn't just they were making it very difficult for people to legitimatily take the normal route home they were actually trying to ship us ALL on a special to Leeds FFS. Now given that when they tried the same 3 seasons ago all hell let loose on the day at KX and a major row ensued after you'd think they might remember how they had policed it better 2 seasons ago where their was no trouble and dispertion was achieved without rancour. I also point out their are bigger home followings in London with as many numpties but we don't have to put up with the bastard retro policing, a policing that is not only insulting to people going about their legitimate business but proberbly illegal.

Its come to the point now where if we play Millwall anytime in the next 5 seasons I may refuse to attend in the same way i won't go to Cardiff so long as the idioctic ticket and travel rules apply. I don't need the inarticulate verbal shite the Met boys think they can dish out without reproach simply because your a football fan, at 45 my limit of being man-handled for no damm good reason is exhausted. TBH I consider it one of the great symbols of this countries decline that even reasonably intelligent people will come up with rational to treat us worse than the perminatily criminal ferrall life ever have to tolerate.

Or put another way, you wern't there and if you had have been you wouldn't have written the above!!

Laughing Was actually meant as a piece of light hearted slightly provocative good natured flippancy mate. Not designed to elicit a full on rant but better out than in eh?

I think my views on OTT policing are well documented on here and other places.

In all seriousness there are three places where there is a serious risk of it kicking off big time where innocent fans are in danger. Millwall is one of them. Everywhere else there seems to be some sort of code of honour whereby the err lads only fight amongst themselves. The only serious point I was making is that the Police are right to take the numbers they do to the Den, Cardiff and Brum. Their actions of course are a different matter. They would argue that they were acting to protect the innocent London based Leeds fans from been attacked by the Millwall fans. However, i agree, it is their total inability to differentiate between black and white and apply common sense if not human rights to decent citizens that they screw up.
