Jesus Camp

Fascinating but very disturbing documentary last night showing fundamental evangelical AMERICAN indoctrination of kids as young as 3 or 4 in holiday style camps. These kids were totally taken in with all the teachings and were not able, it seems, to to be able to think for themselves or question what they were taught.

One of their leaders reckoned that if the fundamentalists mobilised themselves they could determine every election in the USA with their pro-life, anti homosexuality right wing agenda. So instead of them invading those oil-rich countries they could then pick on those with low moral standards!!

Funniest bit was in the closing credits though when the featured televangelist was shown to have been removed from his position following a drugs and male prostitute scandal - not quite practising what you preach then  Very Happy

I wish I had seen the program. Religion gets enough bad press and blame without having the embarresment of yet another  fundamental and extreme religious sect.

Don't like religion, it tends to fuck people up!

I don't agree! it depends on how you let it influence your life rather than it take over your life.

The fundamentalists of any religion can be a concern. Still, a feature on the "normals" who go to church every week and lead everyday lives probably wouldn't get such viewing figures...

I used to prefer "Praise Be" with Thora Hird. You could write in and request your favourite hymn, and if they had film of it from a previous Songs Of Praise, they'd play it!  Wink
