It was pure class - perfect timing, pace and placement.
I'm not sure if Howson did this deliberately but the way he set up his shot was perfect. The little touch to the left took him away from a defender who was coming across from his right, it put himself in a position where a defender was blocking the keeper's direct line of sight to Howson and gave him the angle to use his left foot to hit a diagonal curving shot into the bottom right-hand (from Howson's point of view) corner of the goal. I reckon if he had touched the ball straight ahead or hit it first time his shot would have had to be straighter to avoid going wide of the post and the keeper would have saved it. If that move was deliberate - well done Jonny.
You pick these things up if you watch the goal all day

I particularly liked the way the blades of grass moved under his right foot as he steadied himself for the shot
