ElbowTonight at the new Leeds Academy. Havent looked forward to a gig as much for ages. Four absolute belting albums, Mercury Prize winners, top notch raconteur in Guy Garvey, Got to say that the Academy is blessed with the worst overpriced cak masquerading as beer in plastic glasses ive ever come across, utter shite so i'll be lingering in the Vic as long as i dare.

Have a good one.
The Cuthbert Broderick (Wetherspoons) is closer and don't do a bad pint, if you can tolerate the desperately slow service and students. So the Vic it probably is - they had Tetley Mild on last time I was in.
PS - beware the Ladyboys of Bangkok as you cross Millenium Square...

Absolutely gutted. The last two gigs ive been to at the acad, Foals and the Courteeners on Friday night didn’t start till 9.30. I was planning on getting in around 9.15 but thankfully half2 persuaded us to get in for 9. got in just as they got into "new born" so only saw about ¾ hour of the set. Im still fuming to be honest but I dont know who towards, myself for being so careless, the Acad for making the countries top band start so early or H2 doors for having her told you so expression these last few days.
We went for a brilliant Thai (Meal in Thai Cottage that is, not the show in the M square ) and then into the vic for a few (too many obviously)
You tried that Thai place ravey? across from the LGI. Top class and cheap
A couple of things about the Acad. If you end up at the back the sound is crap plus you get the added irritation of everybody murmuring around you. Not too bad if its a band like the Courteeners but not for a band with elbows sonic subtleties. So we had to push our way into the middle bit down the side near the bar adding more discomfort to my already agitated state. Also is it too much to ask a venue especially a new one to have a slightly sloping standing area? Giving anyone who isn’t in the harlkem globetrotters chance to actually see the band. All that said, the ¾ hour we did see was sublime. The version of "scattered black n whites" at the end is still sending a shiver down me.
wasnt really a good weekend at all really was it with this, the pc and losing at Millwall . Onward and upwards though

I'm seeing Feeder there in November, fortunately I'm a big fan of Carling and I never ever get stuck at the back
should be good

Better than socks any day eh? It is very good. Its getting all the plaudits including the Mercury Prize but i dont think its any better than the other three really. It just seems to be their turn. No one can begrudge it them though.
