ColdplayScumchester tonight, setting off soon for the train over. Really looking forward to it. Genuinely mystified about all the animosity they get. Ok they might not be cutting edge rip roaring tear away Johnny Reb bring down the government psychos but that isn’t enough to warrant the shed loads of uncool points they get lumbered with. They are ace *fact* so there

A few people have mentioned the preaching thing but I don’t get it at all. He comes across to me as a conscientious intelligent caring bloke. In fact hed fit right in this forum . Lots of People say they are depressing as well and of courses its simply music and you takes your choices but I came away from the gig absolutely buzzing.
Had a few pots and a Chinese in Scumchester. There’s some quality boozers but they are spread all over the place and you’ve got to know where you’re going to have a good night there. Its full of scabby scally mancs as well all reckoning there Liam G or a gangster. Some right weird drop outs all over the place as well. Ill never get to like the place despite its ace architecture, good pubs and great music scene.
Anyway MENA is massive and it was full to the rafters with excited expectant whispers filling it before that waltzy blue Danube thing came on and the lights suddenly dimmed.
Opened with the new album opener then Clocks and In my Place and proceeded to deliver 90 minutes near perfect pop joy.
The lasers were stunning but not ostentatious, the sound in the big hall bang on and crystal clear and Chris Martins banter amiable and genuine as ever.
The newer songs had the most committed delivery and if anything the older ones like scientist a bit tired but Christ after 5998 performances I think anyone’s would be. They got together twice like street buskers, once on the stage and secondly to play an unforgettable acoustic Green Eyes in the middle of the audience in the back corner balcony.
H2 reckons it was the best gig shes ever been to. Certainly amongst the best arena/festival gigs ive ever seen. Absolutely inspirational uplifting life affirming class.

Careful there master darby, in the middle of doesn’t mean proven. Plagiarism in music is such a sensitive subject. Who can say a melody in your head is your own or some sub conscious interpretation of something heard long ago. In any case music is a constantly evolving derivative art. No one can tell me Satriani hasn’t lifted things from jazz, blues, contempory and classical music, indeed no modern guitarist can.

funny aint it? so called happy music that litters the likes of Galaxy FM, Radio1 and places like Yates wine lodge sucks the chuffing soul out of me and make we want to vomit up blood.
