Breaking News - Shannon found aliveBBC News
Great news if true, and against all odds I would say. Just hope that she has not been put through some awful ordeal.

Very good news for Shannon and her family! I didn't expect her to be found alive I have to admit!!

Thanks for the text on this mate, great news indeed, I just hope the bastard that did this falls down some stairs, 25 times today.

Great great news - hopefully her abductor will be left to hang himself when no one is looking

Fantastic news - it was reported locally that the 39-year old man in custody was a "distant relative", but I've not heard that repeated since.
Her mother has said that she felt it was someone out to get here - wonder if thats related? Family feud?

Great news. Let's hope the McCanns get similar news soon

Just repaeated this on news now! He is a distant relative of Shannons step father!!!!
|
Mort
|
Not that distant - they said "Uncle"
Shannon wasn't taken straight back to mum, was she?
Bit puzzled by all this - first the above - she was still in care this a.m., such a close relative and so close to where they live, HOW did the police know to go there? AND with all the door-smashing gear, which suggests they were pretty confident they would find something? She was also reported to have "looked scared" when the police fetched her out - I can understand that she'd be in shock, but SCARED?
SOmething's rotten in the state of Dewsbury, methinks

|
Apparently the missing persons organisation got info where she was so they informed police!!! She is still in care of SS and police!

They didn't say who from!! Think there is a lot more to come out from this story!!! Something very dodgy going on!

It's in the Sun today (so obviously the truth) that the bloke was a "bit of a loner" and one of the neighbours reported it after hearing "a childs footsteps" from his flat.

Todays papers don't make pleasant reading.
With little in the way of actual hard facts to report, they've fallen back on the trusted mix of speculation and rumour.
I'm just glad she is alive and safe.

Dispatches on Channel 4 tonight (Thursday) at 9pm, just before Sex Change Soldier (they are very diverse at Channel 4)
They claim to have had exclusive access to the family while she was missing and tonights programme is mean to show exactly what happened while they were looking for her. Might be uncomfortable viewing.

Thought I had it wrong when I posted but couldn't remember what day or channel, just knew I'd seen it advertised that there was a programme somewhere!!!

I suspect the program will not do the family image a whole lot of good, or the image of the area for that matter.

Did anyone catch the Channel 4 documentary / fly on the wall account about Shannon's family in the days following her disappearance?
WHY were they filming a fly on the wall doc??????? I just don't understand why everyone was being filmed - how many times does this happen with families who have children go missing? NEVER?
I didn't see it all (about 10 minutes) so maybe it was explained at the start but it just doesn't add up as to why there were cameras everywhere the mother and extended family went?
Very Very strange

Saw the credits at the end saying they didn't get paid for doing the documentary!!!

Thing is Tommo I just don't understand WHY they would do it.
Your daughter goes missing (in 95% of cases she will not be found alive) and you invite a film crew to watch your every move?
It then gets aired within DAYS of your daughter being found alive & well
what was the pitch? "hi Mrs X, we would like to make a documentary about your hours and days of torture regarding shannons disappearance - you don't mind do you - it'll make great telly - we can document your every reaction..."
Sorry but I am not buying this - again it just doesn't add up

I have a great deal of sympathy for them.
Clearly none of the family is likely to win parent of the year, but the mother herself was struggling to read, is clearly involved in ongoing tensions within the family and they live in a shite hole with no chance of escape or bettering themselves.
We might ask how in the fourth richest country in the world we are still turning out "family" units like this.
I was brought up on a council estate and I still live on one now - I can't recall the total air of despondency and lack of hope that I saw in last nights programme though. Then the ladies and gentlemen of the press manipulating them at every turn purely in order to sell papers and get viewers tuning in.
The situation here was no less desperate than the one the McCanns found themselves in, but we collectively seem to empathise with the well presented, well spoken, educated McCanns whilst sneering at the "chavs" (for want of a better word).
Whilst there may be more to come surrounding this story, I can't help feel sickened by the wider attitude to it.

I have more respect for these 'chavs' than the McCanns.
the McCanns left 3 children under 4 in a room and went 100 yds away to a restuarant, that they feel they have no blame in this sorry situation is despicable. I only hope that Maddy was stolen to order to go to a loving family, I cannot begin to contemplate anything other (as I am sure neither can her family). Unlike Shannon I fear we will never know the outcome of Maddy, as we will never know the outcome of Ben Needham (stolen many years ago on a Greek island).
Lets us hope theirs lives are good and happy.

Spot On ravey couldn’t agree more. Didnt watch it though for the same reason im not watching the White Britain series. I am sick to death of working class people all been Portrayed as objects of ridicule by the media.

May be so.....Mother of 7 kids from 6 different fathers ....I think (or I hope) we are dealing with an extreme example here of "working class Britain". Sorry if this seems harsh, but I would sterilise her, and him, and re home all the kids. The family need help, and clearly cannot make basic life choices for themselves or their dependants.

Almost everyone I know and like is working class. Every man jack one of them is hard working, smart (in their own way ), funny, honest, reliable, conscientious, caring and a character. That includes people on here. I have yet to see any media drama or documentary that I can see the slightest resemblance of any of those people. And now that Mr Barrowclough of Slade prison has sadly departed we have no one to play Kevin if there were .

A friend has a relative who works for the police, but sadly from the start he has been telling me there has been "a lot more to come" regarding this whole sorry matter.
I despair for that poor little lass and just hope that this sad business is the start of a happier chapter in her life.

A lad at work lives in Dewsbury.
When he walked in this morning it was commented on that he must be the only person in Dewsbury who hasn't been arrested in connection with this.
This whole mess gets murkier by the day.
As I said above I'm just glad she has someone looking after her now and making sure she is OK. Apparently her biological dad wants her to live with him permanently when this is all resolved, so lets hope things are on the up for her now.
