BLACKWELL WANTS BECKShttp://www.people.co.uk/sport/foo...761%26siteid=93463-name_page.html
Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell is bidding to sign goal machine Jermaine Beckford from Leeds United in a swap deal.
Blackwell has been in touch with his old club and offered cash plus striker Billy Sharp for the transferlisted marksman.
Free-scoring Beckford - also chased by Coventry and Newcastle - could be cleared for talks with the Blades in the next few days.
Leeds want around £3million for Beckford, but Sheffield United's offer will be around £1.5m plus former Scunthorpe man Sharp.
Meanwhile, United keeper Ian Bennett - wanted by Huddersfield and Walsall - may quit the club this summer.

Seen the stories. My view is cash plus Billy Sharp would be good business. Sharp has performed very well in this league in the past. No reason why not again, injuries permitting.
Another question is, will Blackwell be a Blunt or at QPR come start of the season?

Depends on the price Sharp is valued at. he did well for Scunthorpe at this level, but that was over two seasons ago. In the last two seasons he's managed 4 goals a season for the Blunts and this season he only scored in two league games, both before Christmas.
This is not a player who will be brimming with confidence and ambition, even though at his age he still has a chance to restart his career.
IMO, maximum value of about £250k - and that only because he was once effective at this level. I suspect the Blunts would push for something closer to the £1.5m they paid for him and if so they should be told to go **** themselves.
Considering the Blunts already owe us for unpaid bonuses, the minimum Bates should demand is £2m + Sharp.
