just to add to this a quote from another article
our wonderfull government has just helped let this go. WE were supposed to be in charge of looking after the redistribution of the land and making sure that it was handled properly and that the white land owners weren't turfed off their land, which would (as has happened) just lead to a crisis. But as soon as Blair got in it was shoved aside because its wasnt glamarous, and he only wants to get involved in things that push his standing in the world higher, just look at him straight away diving into the Northern Ireland problems, and Iraq. Such a saint

Don't know the full ins and outs of the goings on in Zimbabwe. I suspect that a lot of the public support kicks back to British Colonial rule?....Met a few whites, who call themselves Rhodhesians, obviously bitter and distressed at the way so many white farmers have been forced out with nothing.
The farms are failing, can't support the population, and all the while a tyrant rules with the gun. |

There is no public support other then the former army veterens who were recruited to clear the farms when Mugabe set off on his quest. His own cheif justice defied him recently showing how little support he has left, his own party is starting to turn on him | ||

Trouble is that often, when a tyrant is removed, the resulting vacuum can be worse than the event preceeding.....Too many questions not enough answers. Sometimes it seems things have to get a lot worse before they get better. | ||

It's not that long since Zimbabwe was one of the economic successes of Africa and had a thriving economy. | ||

Indeed, it still should be as well. They have one of the highest literacy and numeracy rates in the world let alone africa because of the extensive school building programme they went through before Mugabe went all dictatorial |
