BabyShamblesIts hard to be objective about Pete Docherty given that his mush and bizarreness are everywhere these days. I thought the Libertines were brilliant and was a bit sad when they split and even sadder to see PD slip into spiralling decline. I sometimes wonder if he is as bollixed on drugs these days as his publicity machine would have us believe. He looks ok and if his second album is anything to go by still able to produce great music (in my humble of course and im sure there are those that disagree).Anyway Shotters Nation has really grown on me since Christmas so much so that it seems to be permanently on. Every Track is a potential single with heartfelt crafted Lyrics and pure raw guitars combining with clever catchy melodies. Brilliant. |

i have refused to listen to much of his stuff since he killed the Libertines, but it would appear he has actually kicked the drugs this time.. He does make good music, although i much prefer Dirty Pretty Things out of the two groups that came out of the libs (discounting Razorlight as Borell left the libs before they became famous) | ||||||||||

Whilst not defending over indulgence, if I had stopped listening to every drunken, smack head, acid head over the years I would have less mates than the few I do, and little music to appreciate....I hope it can be put down to misadventure of youth in the main.

I would never say he was underrated by any stretch of the imagination, he is one of the list of people that the NME fawns over like they are the messiah (waits for comments from Ian, Boxy or well anyone). He's a good musician, some of his stuff will never quite be up my street and i will always think that Carl Barat was the better of the two songwriters from the Libs | ||||||||||

Morrissey is a grade A twat, that there is no doubt about. He has written some decent enough songs. Waiting about 20 years between decent albums is hardly the mark of a great and prolific song writer.

Good to see the smackhead and his band nominated for a few awards at the NME's......Just goes to show that people with problems can still achieve respect in their field if they are determined enough.....I guess that is what kept people like Hendrix going until he got on the wrong bus.
