LEEDS United legends turned out in force to throw their weight behind the city's bid to play host to the World Cup.
Today the city officially launched it's ambitious drive to be a venue for World Cup fixtures should England are sucessful in bidding for the 2018 international football showpiece.
Past greats including Peter Lorimer, Norman Hunter and Gordon McQueen were joined by recent fans' favourite Nigel Martyn, current defensive linchpin Rui Marques and manager Simon Grayson at Leeds Civic Hall to promote the bid.
And all were in agreement that Elland Road would be the perfect home for top level international football.
Simon Grayson, taking time out from the run-up to pre-season, told the YEP: "The city is a huge city in this country and we are more than capable of hosting games like this at the football club. For Leeds as a city it would be a massive boost for everyone and to be associated with hosting any World Cup game would be a massive acheivement."
Goalkeeping great Nigel Martyn, who played over 200 games for The Whites, added: "There is a huge base of people in this area and it's something I think children could aspire to and look forward to.
"Sport is a huge part of life in this part of the country and if we can get the bid then it would be a real shot in the arm for everyone."
Leeds is one of 15 cities which have declared an interest in hosting World Cup games if the bid for the 2018 World Cup is scuccessful.
If the bid to host games is successful, it is planned that improvements would be made to Elland Road to make it capable of being the venue for group and knockout games.
