I got a pay rise of 2.5%, which I'm told is what inflation is at.

Electricity has gone up by 15% and a litre of diesel by 5% since I was awarded that in December. I'm now told that council tax will go up by at least 4% and I'm sorry to say that my grocery shopping isn't getting any cheaper, so I'm not entirely sure where they get this 2.5% figure from.
A cynic might suggest it's all bollocks.

I can't scrimp and save any more, so I'm going to have to cut back. Instead of just taking home made sandwiches to work for lunch Mon-Thurs and treating myself to something from the butty shop on a Friday, it will be home made butties all week. So the butty shop loses a customer.
If I wait 6 weeks between getting my hair cut instead of the usual 4, that will save me almost 5 haircuts a year. But my stylist loses the work.

And thats before we get to the faceless conglomerate I now work for looking for "best value" across the company which means outsourcing companies are being invited to offer do the job I've currently got....
