from the beeb:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8042261.stm

She said she would favour getting a "group of ordinary people" together with the independent body, to work out a fair system to which that all MPs would have to adhere.

who the f**k does she think she is calling us 'ordinary people'? What a f**king insult! Ideas above her station that madam has!  Twisted Evil

Come on Bron - you work for the NHS. When has any government appointed committee, focus group or quango ever featured "ordinary people"?

They're filled with the same selection of politically right-on agenda waving professional committee sitters, who are there because they like the sound of their own voices, know when to toe the line and are adept at filling in an expenses form.

And as for MP's claiming their minimum salary of £60k+ a year isn't enough to live on without expenses, then they are clearly so far removed from the real world that they should all be kicked out immediately. The'ye totally lost the plot on this one and the trouble is that it appears that 99% of them are "at it".

I commute 24 miles each way every day - I think I might qualify for a second home. Where do I sent the bill....? Evil or Very Mad

I thought that Parliamnet was meant to be populated by elected commoners, and therefore, ordinary people. Maybe extended stay on majority breeds contempt.....It did for the Tories.

Without trawling through the stories over the weekend - one cabinet member (hazel blears?) didn't pay any capital gains tax on the sale of her second home - isn't that TAX EVASION???

If that had been me - paying it back would NOT have been the end of the matter........

fucking arses all of them

Self serving hypocrites, but I guess we all knew that. Gone are the days when the majority of MP's had had lives in the real world before turning to politics. These days we have a load of ex uni cocks whos only real life experiences came from within institutions.......

Out the lot of them, let them all re-apply for their jobs at constituency level, and in the interest of democracy, or what is left of it, let the people vote now on a manifesto to include electoral reform, MP's selection process, Trade Union block voting, European Membership and Constitution, Party funding, and Parliamentary transparancy.

Blimey ^^^^ thats a bit heavy

I only vote cos women died to get me the vote. I frequently add another name to the bottom and vote for that one. I've voted for Mickey Mouse loads  Rolling Eyes

When the daughter was in China, it was the last general election. She rang me really apologetically and said that she could vote whilst in China but she would have to get to Shanghai which was a 36 hour train journey either way! I let her off.

I hadn't realised I had instilled such a need to vote in her, she made me very proud. Smile

Its just a shame the MP's aren't worth it.
