...don't shoot the messenger, but...

I've been told by a usually sound source that we are going to get all 15 points back and the reason for the delay in the announcement being made is that the Football League are in negotiations to agree compensatory "packages" with each of the clubs who will be done out of the second automatic promotion place.  The person who contacted me with this news is not a Leeds United fan but is a very good friend of mine, so I do not have any reason to disbelieve him or, at the very least, he believes this to be a genuine story.

When you think about it though, the arbitratory hearing was only meant to last three days, went on for four, but ended a loooooooong time ago now, so you have to wonder that, if the outcome was a no, why have they not just come out with it yet?!

CW - I have the same rumours flying around that "compensation" packages are being discussed with the team that eventually finishes third

I just hope its not a curveball to get our hopes up and then dash them down again

No "reliable" sources from my end - just pure speculation

But you do have to wonder WHY it is taking so long to make an announcement if they simply said no  Confused

I'd also like to add on a more serious note - what are they getting compensation for? All we will end up with (if this happens) is the points we earned on the field.

Lets say this issue was sorted early on in the season rather than now...would there be such a fuss? I doubt it, so what difference does it make?

Having said that I don't care if the FL does fork out compensation as long as we get out points back and get promoted but I still don't see the reason.

But "a week or so" more has passed since then, Ben.  How long does it take for them to say no?!

timed and it takes me 0.42 seconds to say it and 0.72 seconds to type it

although whether that can be applied to the FL Cool

Except we didnt appeal untill about 2-3 months to go. Remember, we said we'd agree to thei initial ruling?

While Bates has been dragging his heels did go to the FA before going to the high court.

But my comments were hypothetical. My belief is - had the penalty been overturned for whatever reason early in the season then I don't think there'd be such a fuss, so why is there one now. It really makes no difference at what point in the season we get our points back - assuming we do

Quite right, but now we have a team that is good enough to finish third THINKING they are good enough to finish second and they've got their greedy eyes set on an automatic step up to the CCC, rather than the pot luck anything could happen playoffs.

The blame for this lays with the FL for taking so bloody long to sort it out and the teams who will finish below us for not putting in a sufficiently good enough performance on the pitch to amass more points than us.

None of this is down to us.

Bates has been fighting the ruling since day one.  Ravey is right.  The FL are the ones that have dragged this out for so long, in the hope that their refusal to talk would make us go away!
