Sorry I have been off line lately but have just finished moving from one old pile to another (in Lincolnshire) and let me tell you the absolute dross that you collect in a lifetime is amazing. Finally got something near straight now and 'management' is content with where all the stuff is to be placed/hung/slung or whatever. We have to undertake about £100K's worth of renovation which we will start in the new year but we made a few bob on the sale of the Manor House in the Lakes and are now mortgage free which is a great feeling.

So I can get back into the swing of seeing what is happening in all things LUFC starting with the novel experience of a 1st round cup tie. Me.....well it wouldnt be the end of the world if DW threw in the nearly men and we went out now - promotion is the esential target for this season and waving 2 fingers to the FL would be sweet.

Good to see you back JJ.....I was worried I had not seen you posting anywhere, and nearly called you yesterday, then thought maybe you were just having a break. When you get settled send me a mail with new contact number. Would be good to meet up again for dinner if both bosses can be organised Wink

Back on topic Twisted Evil

Agree with that John - although it would be good to get to the third rond with the chance of playing a big club - like Portsmouth Rolling Eyes

I too was beginning to worry about you JJ.

Glad the move went well, but why on earth have you moved from the lakes (one of the most beautiful parts of Britain) to Lincolnshire (one of the .......well is there a word to describe Lincolnshire)?

Its a long story - but worth telling. We sold our Manor House in the Lune Valley because:
a) I had renovated it to death and I wanted another project.
b) Some friends moved to Lincolnshire and like most we thought Why???. Until we went and saw an amazing sequence of Tuscany-like villages south of Lincoln and north of Grantham on whats called locally 'the cliff'.
c) Property prices near Kirkby Lonsdale were going thru the roof and we were offered a lot (and I mean a lot of bread) for our place.
d) Grantham is only 65 mins to Kings Cross so will become prime commuter territory (it already has really)
e) We bought a beautiful old, grade 2 estate house built in 1624 that wants lots of TLC and a central heating system. It has stables, coach houses, cart sheds etc. in the grounds and will be a great project to 'add value' on.
f) Still only 90 mins to ER but the drive is not as pretty!!.
g) Nearer kids, grandchildren and next week two great grand children!!!
h) Mortgage free!!
i) +/- extra £150K in the bank after all costs as well!!!

To a Yorkshireman they all make compelling reasons.

Will be moving this thread to General Chat later JJ.

Having been to JJ's old house I can see why it went for lots of £££. Set in a beautiful location, and it was easy to see that Mrs JJ had stamped her eye for style, class and quality on the home. Harder to see just what JJ had brought to the party Wink Laughing
