Hmmmm
from the above article
| Quote: | The sale process, to Shepherd or any other party, will nonetheless take some time.
First, the old football club company, Leeds United Association Football Club Ltd, will be taken from administration into liquidation, either by administrators KPMG or another firm.
The money received from Bates for the club will then be used to pay off non-football creditors at a reported rate of about 11p in the pound.
Once that hurdle is overcome, the club, now under the banner of Leeds United 2007 Ltd, a company in which Bates and allies Shaun Harvey and Mark Taylor are directors, will be able to re-apply for full FA membership.

Oh, gawd, save us!!!
It's not enough to have Bates as chairman, but it sounds like we have every other two-bit shyster in football being invited over for a chat! Last thing I want to see is more of Bates' dodgy mates involved with our club.

So that prevents investment does it NE1?
What he said and did is fairly reprehensible, but I didnt know we had to "character validate" potential investors
If it gets us a player or five, who can keep us going forward and promoted, then, sorry, I couldnt care less if Saddam was funding us

That's the wonderful thing about opinion, once quoted no going back on it.
Anyone who puts their team before basic humanity needs to catch themselves on quick. Having been a Leeds fan all my life and nearly 30 years going to games I would never say something so silly as not caring about who owned us (and especially using a mass murderer in the Pol Pot league as an example) and i can say without fear of contridiction the only option worse than being owned by Bates is to be owned by Bates/Shepard.
If investment is more important to you than integrity and respect for supporters i suggest you start the "Bring back Peter" campaign, cos that when we had shedloads of it. |

All good to see, now what about Man City's investor/owner - isnt he a "wanted man" in his own country?
What laws has Shepherd broken? Or is YOUR opinions just different to HIS opinions
Funny how there is a thread in another section here where we are on about non-poltical correctness (Hells Kitchen thread) but we dont like Shepherd cos he abused some wommen in Newcastle?
Just an observation mind
As for the Pol Pot observation - Ive worked in Cambodia so I have probably a greater insight than most - maybe you went slightly to an extreme??? So lets take George Bush (to make it interesting, say the first one) - Would you have him as an investor? Tony Blair? Prince Andrew?
Now all these people are directly responsible for the deaths of people in foreign countries. According to your "moral" requirements, you wouldnt accept a cent from them
Just an observation mind

With represpect the comparision stands, check the facts on the average 100,000 a year killed in Iraq over a 30 year period under Saddam, it stands comparision with the KR.
On your other points, its not for me to list worse people than Bates/Shepherd (the planet is full of them), the line is drawn, anyone else who comes along is therefore based on them as the base line. i would have though however that any long standing Leeds fan would like for once to have the club owned by someone with integrity (something missing for a least a decade and some would say much longer) and not just accept any lying, cheating scumbag that just happens to have a few million. |
