Not sure if any of you are aware of this...
Q. What's the only type of phone number that's not included in your mobile network's inclusive minutes deal?
A. The ones that you have to dial and get held in a queue...you know the 0870, 0845 numbers...
Well, I have just got off the phone to Vodafone for a completely different issue and the guy on the desk gave me this advice...
www.saynoto0870.com
All you do is click on the alternative number link on the top left of the front page, enter the company name or 0870 number and hopefully it will return the landline equivalent of the 0870 number you have been charged for previously.
You can search on 0871, 0870, 0844, 0845, 0800, 0808 or 01/02 number
If you have free inclusive minutes in your plan, calls to your electricity company, gas provider, bank, any call centre in fact, will now be included in your free minutes. Even better if you also have the Stop The Clock service! |

My direct line is an 0870 number and it is invaluable because I can re-route it to whichever office I am working out of and my Clients only need one number. Offset that against the alternative, which would be Clients getting nothing but a voicemail facility when I am anywhere but in my main office and I know which scenario they would prefer.
Besides, in the days of premium rate numbers and inflated mobile charges, is 4p per minute really that much?! |

If you really need to be contacted when you are in different places, have you considered getting a mobile phone?
The firm I work for has a no-0870 numbers policy. We've been told to get alternative numbers for supplier who have them. This is only fair and reasonable, especially as they can charge up to 10p a minute.
By the way if you want to ring our helpline, thats an 0870 number.... |
